The Department of Home Affairs recorded a grant rate of 43.2% for Zimbabwean offshore student visa applicants in the March to May 2026 window, based on 139 decided applications. The prior window rate was 89.4%, a fall of 46.3 percentage points. No other nationality in the top-20 offshore dataset recorded a steeper point decline in the same period.
A caution on the volume figure
139 decided applications is a low count for a rate estimate. At that volume, a one-percentage-point shift in the rate corresponds to fewer than two decided applications. The 46.3-point fall represents approximately 64 fewer grants relative to what the prior rate would have produced on the same volume. Because the rate is calculated from a small denominator, it is more sensitive to the composition of applications decided within the window than the same rate calculated from thousands of applications. The March to May 2026 result for Zimbabwe should be read as a single low-volume observation, not as a stable population-level rate.
